New Year, New Home!

Updated: Jan 3, 2020

We have worked in many basements: of manufacturing buildings, schools and even a church. Now we are happy to call the lowest level of a former department store home! We are so excited to announce that Athena's Warriors moved into the new downtown makerspace and home of the Maker Movement in CT, MakerspaceCT!

MakerspaceCT empowers everyone with Equipment, Community, and Education so that they can develop skills, make connections and launch ideas. Their 25,000 square-foot commercial space is located in the Historic G. Fox Building at 960 Main Street in Downtown Hartford. MakerspceCT opened their doors in April 2019 and welcomed us through those same doors on the second day of 2020.

We are sad that MakeHartford closed its doors over the winter break, but we are grateful for our five years working and collaborating there. MakeHartford was Hartford's first makerspace, i.e. community of artists, technologists, and entrepreneurs for hands-on innovation. They were founded in 2013 and served the community for more than six years before merging into newer and larger makerspaces that opened in our region.

Athena's Warriors is ready for the new FIRST Robotics Competition season, kicking off this Saturday with the Infinite Recharge game reveal as part of FIRST RISE. We are always open to new student members and mentorship by engineering professionals. Become a member of our new home or just stop by to see us in action and get a tour! Here's to new opportunities and partnerships to come!
